November window display - an ode to hunters

We're moving right along through November.
So, you know what that means..?

Hunting!!
I thought it would be most appropriate to design our display window with a "hunting" theme. Complete with a passed out hunter on the right... tongue in cheek of course

These historic photos depicting the way hunting was in the U.P. would be seriously perfect for your (or a friends) camp.

Are you wondering what the heck happened to Superior View Historic Photographs that was located downtown Marquette on Washington Street???
The photographs are now inside our store - Art of Framing 149 West Washington. Located directly across the street from Superior View's old building!

The owner, Jack Deo, decided to retire last year and when we heard this, we approached him with the idea to carry just a few of his most popular photos. Well, the more we talked about it, we decided to place his whole collection in our shop here. We have the perfect space to house all twenty some thousand images.
They are categorized exactly as they were in his former shop.
It would had surely been a shame to lose such an iconic store from our historic downtown Marquette. We are proud to carry on the legacy.

So, please pass along this information to anyone and everyone!!!

Float copper framed!

We were pretty excited when a customer brought in this 5 pound hunk of float copper for us to frame.

After a few days of deciding what to mount it on, we agreed a nice Birch wood board (clear coated) is just the ticket for this unique framing!!!

 Well, this day has been strange, what with the SNOW!!!

Lucky for me it's been pretty busy today and that's just enough to distract me from looking outside too much  :)

 This beautiful collage design came in today and I just want to say...

Just Say No to adhering your artwork with Double sided tape!!

This was just brought in for re-framing. We are going to carefully remove the rest of the fabric collage and then re-mount it by sewing inconspicuous stitches in places where the needle and thread won't leave holes. Must give this marvelous design some love!!!! ♥ finished pic to come...

Art of Framing is proud to announce they are carrying on the legacy of Superior View’s Historic Photograph collection. After a month long store remodel, Art of Framing installed the entire selection of historic photographs depicting life in the Upper Peninsula and beyond.

When we heard Jack Deo wanted to retire, we approached him with the idea that we would carry just a few of his best sellers. The more we talked about it, the more we wanted to take the whole collection. Our love of history and Marquette, combined with Custom Picture Framing makes this collaboration a perfect fit.

The change has brought an influx of picture framing orders, particularily antique and vintage collectables, including family photos and local historic relics. Special care is taken with each and every framing order. Conservation quality framing is used in every situation and all items are kept in their original form. Each piece is professionally and carefully handled by owners Stacie and Tom DuWaldt.  If you are in a rush, they feature one hour custom picture framing.

Just a nice quick update on how close we are in putting Superior Views' historic photographs in our shop. 

Our goal to have these legendary photos ready for sale, is 2 weeks!!! Maybe less. 

But I will keep you posted, for sure!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

UPAWS fundraiser update

Oh wow!!
What a great turnout for the Silent Auction last week!!!
We raised nearly $2000 for the animal shelter.
Couldn't have done it without everyone who painted, so THANK YOU SOO MUCH!
